A Pig and a Swig Results
#3801 Gang ready to roll!
Sunday August 30th several members of Burlington Champlain Aerie #793 and Addison County #3801 toured Addison and Chittenden County via motorcycle while benefiting a great cause.
Participants donated a non-perishable food item for the Vermont Foodbank and we gathered 30 lbs of food! After cruising the countryside with ideal conditions....cloudy but no rain.......they arrived at Aerie #793 for a Pig Roast.
There are some more photos in the picture section. I tried to get the whole group but the were a little too fast for my camera to get them all.
Thanks to Kent and Melissa for organizing the event. I think everyone had a great time and we are all looking forward to doing it again next year!

Can you spare one
day a month? Preferable a Thursday evening? We are in need of a few
brothers & sisters to volunteer to call bingo games on Thursday
evenings. Currently we have 2 wonderful gentlemen rotating week to
week.....and they are getting tired voices. Please help out...the
players are friendly, they'll appreciate a different face &
voice...and you might actually enjoy yourself. Contact the Aerie today
for more info.

2008-2009 Eagle of the Year Award
From left to
right: Charlie Fortin, GWP Jim Roberts, WP Rob Oliver, Chris
Dion
On the same night that the
Grand Worthy President paid a visit, I took the opportunity to honor
those people who go the extra mile to make sure the Aerie keeps on
running. Eagle of the Year award is for the person that you can always
count on to help with any function, makes sure the big picture is
always kept in sight and gets the job done.
This year I chose to have 2 recipients...Charlie Fortin and Chris Dion
as Eagle of the Year. I want to make sure that they as well as everyone
else knows that good work is not taken for granted. I
appreciate their work as well as all our brothers & sisters. Make
sure to thank these two for their fine work. It's not that hard to find
them...they'll be in the kitchen or out back working hard at our next
function!

Grand Worthy President visits #3801
GWP Jim Roberts
receives check from WP Rob Oliver
The Grand Worthy President Jim
Roberts and wife Pat stopped by our Aerie for an official visit.
Addison County #3801 was proud to present him with a $250 check for his
favorite charity - TLC. Jim and his wife are great, down-to-earth
people, and I was glad to spend some time getting to know both of them.
Jim was also presented with a gift basket of Vermont
goodies including Maple Syrup and was invited to come back any time to
visit our Aerie.

Child Advocacy Day
Fitting for a free bike helmet
On Saturday May 9th several
local and state fire, rescue and police agencies were on hand for the
first annual Kids Safety Day. The weather held up and there was a good
crowd enjoying some of the following events: smoke house, car
extraction, rope rescue, using a fire hose, canine units,
fingerprinting ID cards, bike safety, bike helmet fitting as well as
meeting Smokey the Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog and McGruff the Crime
Dog.
Most
of the younger kids will also remember the bouncy castle on site as
well. Every parent I talked with was very happy with the event and
really appreciated having the chance for them and their kids to
interact with police, rescue & fire personnel up close. The police,
rescue & fire personnel were even more excited about the event and
are already looking forward to next year. Our Aerie is also looking
forward to next year as well. For some pictures of the event check out

Day Photo Album

Nominations for Officers 2009-2010
The new fiscal year is fast
approaching, and we are calling out for nominations for open officer
seats for the upcoming 2009-2010 year. If you are interested in
actively participating in the club's affairs, please contact Worthy
President
Rob Oliver via email at websiteadmin@addisoncountyeagles.com
or call 578-4137. Or attend a regularly scheduled Aerie meeting the 2nd
and 4th Tuesday of each month.
If you're not able
to commit to be an officer, we still want you to come to the meetings
and participate as your schedule allows. Aerie meetings are the 2nd and
4th Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m. Come see and decide where our
money is being spent and determine the future for our club.
We
also need volunteers to help with various functions throughout the
year. If every member committed to helping on just ONE event, we would
have
more than enough help.Be an Eagle member in action, not just in name!
Contact the Aerie at 877-2055 or any current Aerie or Auxiliary officer
to help.

Tom McGrath appointed to Grand Aerie
Our own Tom McGrath has been
appointed by Grand Worthy President James Roberts to serve as Grand
Treasurer for this year. Tom has previously served as Grand Worthy
Chaplain, Grand Worthy Conductor, Grand Trustee, New England Regional
President, Vermont State President, local President as well as all
local offices.
Tom also is active with the
development of the Eagle Village in Florida, Disaster Relief Trailer
effort as well as the Grand Aerie Investment Board. Currently Tom is
also serving as the Vermont state Secretary and local #3801 Secretary.
When not busy with all these duties and activities, Tom also is a great
resource to other Aerie and Auxiliaries concerning business practices
and conversion to the MMS online system. Tom's wit and sense of humor
is also greatly appreciated.
I'm proud to
proclaim that the brothers & sisters of Addison County #3801 are
100% behind Tom and thank him for his work as he serves for the local,
State and Grand Aerie simultaneously.
